Occasionally I get ideas which I like, but don’t stretch to a full-length novel. When I get enough of them, I’ll put them in a short story collection.
Sometimes someone will say to me “Now, there’s an idea for your next book!” Several of the stories in these collections came about because of those very words. Others are outtakes from my novels – the bits that weren’t essential to the story and would have made the novel too long, but are interesting in terms of character origins and development.
Some of the stories are spooky, some funny, some poignant. Some feature characters from my other books, others don’t.
